Caravela

Caravela is a musical show that mixes the ferments of flamenco music, jazz sounds and Latin rhythms. Carried by an explosive female vocal duo that explores traditional Andalusian sounds with rock energy by marrying ample voice and scratchy timbre, and by a flamenco guitar that skillfully navigates between fast and precise rasgueos, Cuban tumbao and jazzy soniquete. The group dives into buleria rock with its first title Cuando Llega la noche, in a poetic flight with an infernal cadence. The boat weighs the moorings with percussion and brass, and sails in the wind of Cadiz with a few dance steps... Ready for the crossing?

The project was born from the breeding ground of the flamenco company Minera and is constituted as a formation with variable geometry, from a duo to a sextet. First formed as a guitar/vocals duo in 2021, as a group of covers of traditional pieces with a few short dance interludes. Compositions made by Csaba Ökrös and Assuntina Gessa for flamenco puro shows are gradually integrated into the repertoire. The formation evolves into a trio with percussion, then the group finds its identity as a quartet with the singer Samira Ramrami. Little by little the brass and then the bass join the arrangements.
